Nature & Embodiment 3 day retreat
This retreat is now fully booked. please email [email protected] if you would like to be on the waiting list.
The Buddhist teachings on cultivating embodied presence offer us tools for resting back into what’s already here: the body, its six senses, and awareness. Cultivating this presence can help us to realize the interconnectedness between ourselves and nature, and provide a reliable refuge for the heart and mind.
In this three-day retreat, we will explore ways of attending to the senses, settling the mind, opening to what is surrounding us, and allowing ourselves to yield into the ever-present support of the earth under us. In support of this settling and opening, over the days we will weave our way between sitting, walking and lying-down meditation (instruction will be provided), gentle movement, group discussion, dharma talks by the teachers, and quiet time in nature.
This retreat is now fully booked, if you would like to join the waiting list please email: [email protected]
Please read the following information carefully to know this retreat is right for you.
Retreat start and finish times
- Please arrive at Nindethana camp after 3:30pm and before 5:00pm on Friday 6th January 2023 in order to settle into your room/set up your tent and familiarise yourself with the venue. Dinner will be served at 6:00pm.
- The retreat will finish AFTER LUNCH (leave Nindethana approximately 1:30pm) on Monday 9th January.
NOTE: It is important to the cohesion of the retreat, and out of respect for the teaching and all retreat participants, that you arrange work and home commitments in order to be present at Nindethana for the full retreat period, including the final day.
Travelling from interstate
- If you are travelling from interstate, and booking return flights for Monday 9th January, please ensure your flight does not leave Launceston airport before 4:00pm; this will allow comfortable time to return to Launceston / the airport.
- For your arrival flights in Launceston, it is best to arrive no later than 1:30pm on Friday 6th January to maximise the chance of someone giving you a lift.
Accommodation
There are two options for accommodation at Nindethana:
- Camping
- Bunkroom share
Mattresses are provided, but you will need to bring all your bedding and linen, including pillows. All beds are single size. All accommodation uses shared bathroom facilities.
If you are camping, you will need to bring your tent/swag/campervan, your mattress, bedding, linen and pillows.
Covid Safe Guidelines
In the 2 days before the retreat, we ask that you get tested for Covid19 (either a Rapid Antigen Test or a PCR.) This will help to detect asymptomatic cases and keep everyone at the retreat setting as safe as possible. We also ask that you bring some Rapid Antigen Tests with you to the retreat.
Food and catering
Three nutritious vegetarian meals will be provided each day. We will also cater for vegan and gluten-free diets. If you have specific dietary requirements, please email us after booing online, so that we can organise your requirements with the cook.
Retreat fees & dana
$330* + dana (for teachers – see note below)
The retreat fee covers all food, accommodation and administration (teachers’ food and accommodation, insurance, first aid etc.).
Following the Buddhist practice of generosity, the teachings are offered freely on a dana (gift/donation) basis by Robyn and Louise. Dana is not payment for goods or services rendered; it is given from the heart. The generosity of students is a gift that supports not just the teachers, but also the larger community, and your own practice.
A dana box will be provided at the retreat for your monetary donation to teachers. For more information on dana, and some suggested amounts for those seeking more guidance, please click here for a link to the ‘Dana’ page on the Melbourne Insight Meditation website.
* If you would like to attend this retreat, but the full fee is prohibitive for you right now, please contact us to discuss options.

Cancellation Policy
We understand that circumstances change, and that people sometimes need to withdraw from a retreat booking. However, it is also important that we are given enough time to try and find someone to fill your place. Dealing with cancellations and trying to find someone to fill a place can take considerable time. Retreat fees cover the basic costs of putting the retreat on. If you cancel and we cannot fill your place, our organisation is left to pay your costs such as food and accommodation. As a not for profit organisation with limited funds this exposes us to considerable risk.
Cancellation fees apply as follows:
- If a cancellation is made at any time and we cannot find someone to take your place, your full retreat fee will be retained.
- If a cancellation is made within 7 days of the retreat and we are able to find someone to take your place, $50 of your full retreat fee will be retained.
- If you cancel due to having Covid19, a full refund will be returned
Please arrange work and personal commitments in order to stay on the retreat grounds for the full duration of the retreat.

Meditation can be contraindicated and may be harmful for people with Complex Trauma, PTSD, Substance Dependence or Psychosis. If in doubt, please seek advice from a psychologist or psychiatrist and speak to us before booking your place.
Thank you.
